Who We Are

Megan Cross

Megan@whiskeyandwonder.com

Co-Host. Dungeon Master. Ball of Anxiety.

Megan Cross makes up one half of the Whiskey and Wonder podcast.  She grew up in the sprawling plains and towering mountains of Colorado; she moved to the vastly green and humid North Carolina when she turned 18.

Her first ever taste of whiskey was as a young girl, after begging her mother for a sip of Wild Turkey.  She hated it and wouldn’t touch whiskey again until she turned 21; Jack and Coke became her go to drink.  Shortly after, whiskey sours became her favorite.

Her friends introduced her to Japanese Whisky and that’s when she realized how unique the flavors could be.  This sparked a curiosity that she shared with Tyler and Whiskey and Wonder was born.

Her hobbies include playing video games, dungeon mastering for a huge Dungeons and Dragons group, writing, dog training, and basking in existential dread.

Tyler Vanhoy

Co-Host. Guitarist. Nature Lover.

Tyler was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and raised in a small town about 30 minutes east. He moved around NC a few times during his childhood, living in Durham and another small town called Hillsborough. Despite living in Durham for a few years, small town life instilled a love for nature and the surrounding world, which inspired Tyler to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Geology.

Upon graduating college, Tyler started his career, where he made some wonderful friends who introduced him to the many wonders of whiskey. Prior to this, Tyler “drank it for the effect, not the taste” but began to appreciate the different flavors and styles of whiskey. It truly became a passion when he discovered his enjoyment of cigars. In his eye, the two activities seemed to pair “like peas and carrots” as Forrest Gump would say.

Tyler’s hobbies include playing music, fishing, camping and basically anything outdoors, smoking meats, watching TV and learning new things.
